Inside Gemmist: the powerhouse ingredients behind the brand

What exactly are “good-for-you” ingredients, and why do I need them in my hair products? We use this term a lot, so we thought it’s about time we break it down for you. Behold, a list of hair care ingredients we’d give an award to if that was a thing.

Now before you can call yourself a hair-care-ingredient-expert, there’s something you need to know: just because you can’t pronounce it doesn’t mean it’s bad. So lock away that misconception and throw away the key.

Powerhouse ingredients we praise

Avocado Oil – Avocado Oil delivers Vitamin E and Lutein, beneficial antioxidants and omega-9 fatty acids, for smoother-looking and softer-feeling hair. It’s also known to fight free radical damage caused by environmental aggressors.

Camellia Japonica Seed Oil – Chock-full of vitamins and omegas, this oil naturally smooths and conditions, helping reduce the appearance of damage. It also helps increase moisture, shine, and softness.

Glycolic Acid – This alpha hydroxy acid helps to smooth and moisturize the hair to help prevent breakage.

Hydrolyzed Quinoa Protein – Proteins are essential building blocks of hair. Our hydrolyzed quinoa protein helps condition damaged hair without weighing it down.

Panthenol – This provitamin helps balance moisture levels to prevent over and under hydration.

Polyquaternium-47 – This ingredient is an exceptional conditioning agent that helps reduce damage caused by combing and brushing hair by smoothing hair fibers.

Soy Protein – This protein helps improve hair texture and minimize damage. It’s also known to help your hair follicles.

And there you have it! Our all-time favorite hair care ingredients. The easiest way to incorporate more good-for-you ingredients is getting your daily (or, let’s face it, weekly) dose of Gemmist. Click here to see your formulas and the ingredients therein.

P.S. Since your combination of Gemmist Shampoo and Conditioner is based on your own hair data, you won’t find every single ingredient on this list on the back of your bottles. But rest assured that the ingredients you need to achieve your hair goals are plentiful in the formulas our algorithm handpicks for you.
